Jesse Alexander
Born in Santa Barbara, California in 1929, Jesse Alexander began his photography career in 1953, photographing La Carrera, the long and challenging road race in Mexico. In 1954 he went to Europe where he began to photograph Formula One races as well as international manufacturers championship events for American and European publications. Alexander remained in Europe for nine years, acting as the European editor for Car and Driver magazine. Alexander chronicled racing in the 1950メs, recording the evolution of post war automotive racing.
Jesse Alexander has published numerous books, his most recent DRIVEN, is a wonderful compilation of his photographs from 1954-1962. His work is in numerous private collections as well as museums such as; Akron Museum of Art, Santa Barbara Museum, Oakland Museum of Art and others.
